Dirty Pirate Hookers: Game 4 Summary
Dirty Pirate Hookers: 5
Accent Furniture: 17
Date: 06/01/08, Start Time: 10:00A, Park: Firemen's
The Dirty Pirate Hookers dropped their third straight game as offensive woes continue to plague the team. After surrendering 7 runs over the first two innings aided in part by the compact dimensions of Firemen's field, starter Ben Ho gave the Hookers an excellent chance to put the heat on Accent Furniture by holding them to only 3 runs over the next 3 innings. The Hookers failed to take advantage of the opportunity and scored just 3 runs over the stretch. Ultimately, the Pirates would add 2 more runs to their score, but that was not enough to keep up with Accent.
When told the Pirates looked flat and lacked effort, John C said "When a team is down it always looks bad. When a team wins it looks invincible. We're having a tough stretch...." Asked if there were any positives that could be taken from the game, John C continued "I think Ben Ho has pitched very well the last two games--especially in this tiny park. We got some guys hitting real well...our defense has been solid. I'm happy with the team effort...I think we've been victimized by bad luck and bad timing...we're ready to turn the corner..."
Responding to a suggestion for a team pep talk, John C ridiculed the notion "Look this isn't football...that kind of stuff may work there, but not here. Nothing humbles like this game...you need to not get too high or too low. All I know is I believe in my players. We just need to relax and have fun. That's the most important thing..."
The Hookers look to turn it around when they play their next game on June 6th, 6:00P at Bishop Maginn field.
Game called in bottom of 6th by virtue of mercy rule. Defensive data is limited due to lack of records personnel.
