Rumor Central: A Spring team and big changes for DPH, Fall fallout

"The DPH is fielding a team this spring" according to GM John C. He cited an effective recruitment drive by Mike F and Steve F--"Mike and Steve are the reason why the DPH is able to field a coed team (this Spring)." He also acknowledged the return of many DPH veterans. "You can't have a team without loyal, core players..." John C confirmed other major developments taking place within the organization but refused to offer specifics. Some people connected with the team speculate major changes include a reorganization of management; other sources suggest a revamping of the roster is imminent. One insider believes much of the perceived roster turmoil indicates the DPH is preparing to launch a new team.

John C was asked to provide more information about his resignation from the Men's Softball Franchise. He was less than forthcoming, but did not deny fallout from the '08 Fall season as a reason; the DPH did not field a team last fall. Further, John C did not deny on field incidents and behavior issues influenced his decision. Also, despite recent charges implicating him, John C vehemently denied his name is one of the remaining 104 who tested positive for steroids. "Impossible..." insisted John C, "Have you ever seen me play?"

The hot stove is red hot, DPPI will continue its DPH coverage through the offseason, Spring training, and the '09 season.

Barely a day removed from their hugely successful media event--described by some as a media circus--an insider has revealed the team was caught in a "very embarrassing situation" involving one of its recent, prized free-agent acquisitions.

Details are limited except for reports of John C shouting at employees and demanding accountability. The insider also revealed the team is preparing to issue a statement or, perhaps, an apology. We will continue to monitor this issue and will promptly publish the team's statement.

John C was spotted entering the five star Andy's Sports Bar with Albany Funding GM Ben Ho tonight in what appeared to be a high level meeting. Jo Ho's late appearance added to persistent rumors indicating the dissolution of AF. It is suspected John C was negotiating with Ben Ho for the services of some of the AF players.

It is unknown who John C covets from the Albany Funding roster, but internal DPH leaks indicate he is seeking outfield depth. Insiders also maintain John C is not entirely satisfied with the overall makeup of the DPH and is determined to resolve "deficiencies" that-strangely-may actually include himself.

We caught up with John C on his way to his car. When asked if his meeting with Ben Ho was business related, John C quipped "Ben and I are friends...besides, nobody cooks a steak like Andy's...I love coming here..." Ben Ho was also asked for a comment on the meeting. His response was a terse "Thank you...I have to go now..." Jo Ho refused to comment and pushed away our reporter. She quickly ducked into her car and sped away.

John C did state, however, that there will be a major press event tomorrow at noon. Although he was not specific about the intent of the press conference, it is believed the DPH roster will finally be made public. We will post a live transcript of the events tomorrow starting at Noon.

Our intrepid reporters continue to pursue what is believed to be an important developing situation regarding the DPH. Suspicions were further reinforced when John C arrived at DPH offices early this morning to "deal with lingering issues..." When pressed for more information, he was surprisingly receptive to our queries.

Asked if the team was trying to land another big free agent, John C stated "You guys know I'll do whatever it takes to ensure DPH preeminence--especially if it means bringing in good people..." When the topic of vacating his GM position was cited, John C proffered a response suitable for his rising megalomania: "L'équipe, c'est moi!"

The recent spate of DPH roster delays has enveloped the team in a whirlwind of new rumors. "I don't like this...this is a waste of my time. Don't you guys have anything better to do?" snapped GM John C when questioned on his way to the 28th Annual Gala celebration at the Troy Music Hall. "There's nothing to it...this is my time! Go pester somebody else with your insanity!" was the last quote coerced out of John C before he was escorted into the historic Music Hall.

Despite staunch denials from John C, insiders maintain the recent roster delays are caused by major changes either within the organization or on the DPH roster. Our insider lacked detailed information, but was confident that current high level meetings were indicative of something important.

Speculation regarding organizational structure has floated around for years with John C demanding a promotion to CEO. Some believe a new GM has been hired and John C will receive his coveted promotion. Other rumors suggest the team has acquired another high profile/high salaried free agent...the names bandied about suggest a high maintenance type player.

DPH Rumor Central

Persistent rumors suggesting the DPH made another important acquisition and that the team is close to finalizing the roster have been reluctantly confirmed by GM John C. "I would say yes, your sources are correct--the roster is almost complete." Insiders say it's only a matter of contract language regarding performance bonuses.

John C refused to reveal the identities of the players preferring a grand unveiling of the roster. Other rumors imply the roster could impact several teams in the league. John C neither confirmed nor denied the rumor stating "I don't know what other people are thinking; clairvoyance isn't my strong point. I'm only concerned with building a team." He also added "I guess there could be some surprises in there..."

Insiders maintain the roster has key members from previous DPH squads and has been rounded out by important players from other teams. Reports further indicate other teams are pursuing key DPH personnel. When pressed for confirmation John C angrily asked "where do you guys get this stuff?!!!" while ducking into his car.

The roster is expected to be released sometime this week.

Other reports indicate the team could have a new logo. Several designs are expected and polling will help determine the replacement.
