Wolverines dumped from Lynn's League Sunday Playoffs
DPPI reporting from Mullen's Park, Nov 13 and Monday morning:
The Wolverines, loaded with talent and positive disposition, could not get out of their own way during the tournament style Sunday Playoffs. Combining poor pitching and defense with a nearly completely absent offense, the Wolverines showed what happens when an entire team picks the wrong time to have a bad day. John C epitomized the futility going 0 for the day at the plate and playing completely uninspired defense. Steve F was one of the few Wolverines who provided consistent, solid production at the plate. Many players, however, have recently played an abnormal amount of games in a few days to make up for rainouts across several leagues.
The day started poorly when only minutes to game time, team management learned several players were arriving late from an earlier game. "Unacceptable..." said Deryl B, "Somebody has to communicate. This is the playoffs." "It completely trashed our game plan." said John C, "It was honest miscommunication...non-communication really. If we knew, we could have planned accordingly."
The Lategate drama, however, would not go away. "I told Deryl on Tuesday. He knew." complained Mike F. "All I know is I didn't know. A simple text is all it takes." quipped John C while adding "I'm done with this. We played poorly and we lost. That's all there is to it."
A day of poor play did not stop some Wolverines players from whooping it up into the wee hours. Several reports placed a few Wolverines players with a player from the opposition during early Monday morning hours at a Lark Street sports bar. Apparently, woeful play did not dampen their partying spirit.
"I'm not into rumors and conjecture..." lectured John C, "Besides, the season is over...all the training and conditioning takes a toll. Unwinding is not a bad thing."
Despite the air of controversy surrounding the Wolverines, they are a cracking, fun team with good people and solid players who delivered a very respectable season for themselves and their fans.
