The Pirates drift to victory.

In a maddening opener to a double header, manager John C watched his team plod through another game. Unlike their previous effort against Café Hollywood, the Pirates' defense was fairly sound and they mustered enough runs to earn a victory...but it wasn't easy.

Through a combination of sloppy defense and some well placed hits in the expansive Coyne outfield, Host Rocket put 11 runs on the board through the first 4 innings. Fortunately, the Pirates nearly matched them through the same frames by plating 10 runs.

In the 5th, the Pirates relieved Warren S with John C who promptly walked the first two batters he faced. After adjusting the pitcher's plate to regulation distance, John C proceeded to shutout the Host Rocket offense through 4 innings. The Pirates put the doughnuts to good use--first tying the score in the 6th and finally winning the game with one out in the bottom of the 8th on a single by Warren S that scored a lumbering Mike F.

Although the game had a bit of a schizophrenic nature, a win is a win and the Hookers now look to sweep the double header with a victory over Poppy's Place.
