Dirty Pirate Hookers Post Season

Dirty Pirate Hookers: 2009 Playoffs Round 2

DPH: 15
Corruption: 1

9/18/09, Friday, 7:30 PM @ Mullen's Park

The incorrigible corruptors debase Corruption.

For the second time in as many post season games, the Hookers flashed their knack to score...even with Automatic Out encumbering the line up.

Corruption was the sole remaining adversary from the South; a weak division with the misfortune of battling the big boys from the North.  Somewhat amusingly, Corruption "earned" a home game over the Pirates.

Unwarranted charges by Corruption of DPH cheating and unsportsmanlike play added the only drama to this skirmish.  Contrary to the charges and unbeknown to some unappreciative types, DPH manager John C worked with the league to reschedule the event thus ensuring Corruption--as per their request--had a full squad.

None of this fazed the Pirates, however, and after two quick outs in the top of the 1st, they resolved to loot Corruption.  Colleen punched a clean ground ball single through third base and scored on a 2 RBI bomb to center-left by Garry S.  Katie "Big Headed Honky" S, an injury replacement, reset the table with a hard line drive through the pitcher('s) box.  Refusing to be out gunned by Garry, John C scorched another Hooker 2 run dinger to the same location.

Corruption could do nothing with their allotted outs in the bottom of the inning--in fact, the Pirates' pitching (a masterful game by Warren S) and defense completely demoralized Corruption for the entire game--surrendering a mere 5 hits and allowing a scant, solitary run in the bottom of the third.  Effectively, the game was all about the Pirates and the desire to vanquish their foe.

The Pirates deposited pairs of runs on the board in the 2nd and 3rd innings.  In the 2nd, a Scott J lead-off double and RBI singles by Justin V and Colleen B plated a pair and in the 3rd, a lead-off double by John C and a legged home-run by Steve F added the next pair of Pirates to the board.

The top of the 4th brought a sustained Pirate raid and 6 runs of booty.  With one out, Justin V blooped a triple to the dreaded triangle in center and scored on a scalded RBI single by Colleen.  With two down, Katie S lined an RBI double and scored on a subsequent RBI double by John C.  Steve F took a smart walk and Warren S joined the fray with a 2 RBI double.  Scott J lined an RBI single and Automatic Out ended the inning.  Justin V scored the last Pirate run of the game in the 5th reaching on a single to center and later scoring on a throwing error from left field.

This tussle proved to be nothing more than an entertaining distraction for the Pirates.  A more fitting battle looms over the Pirates on their path to the treasure--an engagement with the mighty Softballs.  No other foe has an arsenal to match Softballs'...an enemy capable of devastating destruction especially in the cozy confines of Fireman's Field.

Come watch your favorite Pirates engage a dreadful enemy on their path to the loot, kids are always free.

DPH vs Softballs, Friday, September 25, Fireman's Field.
