Soon, they be settin' sail t' the Capital District Charity Tourney at the Knickerbacker Softball Complex in Troy this Saturday, August 17. The Pirates are always motived t' play benefit tourneys 'n are lookin' t' bounce back from thar Maddie's Mark Championship loss.

The Dirty Pirates Loot Booze To Plunder The Division Title

The Dirty Pirates set sail to their crossover skirmish and plundered Booze on First to loot the division title with a stress-free 12-2 victory.

The Pirates stormed the Booze defenses with 5 runs in the first two innings; scored 4 in the fourth and 3 more in the last two innings for an easy victory. After blastin' Moose Knuckles--the Pirates closest divisional rivals--19-11 on Monday, the Pirates were relaxed and jovial as they battled Booze.

The Pirates finished their season relatively early and now must wait for the play of final divisional games for final seeding. Regardless the results, the Pirates have an unbreakable grip on the one seed in the North/East division.

"The one and done Andy's playoff format makes things difficult, but securing the one seed is an advantage..." said Cap'n John C. "We have some tough games ahead..."

The Pirates do, indeed, have some tough games ahead and the long wait before they battle again will not help them.

"Most of us will skirmish through the break..." said John C, "...but this unit won't battle together for a bit. It's on us to stay sharp."

Meanwhile, the Pirates will careen their Schooner and strip the barnacles from the hull. They will need every advantage when post season skirmishes commence.

American Legion Coed B: The Pirates Blast their way past Half Cocked; advance to Championship

The Pirates, playing as if their schooner was running on one main sail, yawned their way to a two game sweep over Half Cocked to advance to the American Legion Sunday Coed B championship round.

The Pirates laid siege with all guns blazing to Half Cocked for the first 3 innings of game one. Their enemy only managed a modicum of resistance to the assault. Sensing this, the Pirates' cannoneers retrenched by assuaging their salvos so as to conserve ammunition for their next opponent.

Although the strategy worked, the Pirates nearly let game two slip from their sights. Half Cocked stormed the Pirate defenses with all they could muster, but the Pirates held firm. Cries of protest could be heard from the Half Cocked bunkers, but the Pirates mocked said cries until the Half Cocked batteries fell silent. Never once in either game after a complete inning did Half Cocked take a lead.

The Pirates blasted Half Cocked 17-7 in game one and toyed with Half Cocked for a 13-11 victory in game two. Surely, the Pirate cannoneers will not relent next week when they lay siege to their Championship round opponents.

CDA Shockers and Bombers split their battles today with each claiming a victory. A final battle next Sunday will determine who engages the Pirates in the Championship round.

Bring along the family, some grog and hardtack sea biscuits and enjoy the opening skirmish next week.

The Pirettes strike an innocent pose after plundering the Road Warriors' loot.

Dirty Pirates Sunday: #1 Seed

Congratulations to the Dirty Pirates for earning the #1 Seed in Lynn's Sunday B Coed League.

The Pirates blew out the hapless Bombers 19 - 9 to secure the #1 seed for Lynn's Sunday B Coed League. A relentless offensive attack powered by 5 homeruns provided the shots across the bows for the rest of the B division. Solid defense and pitching along with an authoritative offense are hallmarks of this Pirates team that allowed them to storm to an 8 - 2 regular season record.

"The one seed is nice..." said manager John C, "but our goal is always to win it all. The voyage begins next week."

The Pirates face a best of three series with the four seed Half Cocked who handed the Pirates one of their two losses. 

The Pirates' manager continued "They're a good team...they handed us a loss. I expect a competitive series." 

Sunday playoffs begin next week, August 11, 10:30A at Mullen's Park in north Albany. Bring the family and enjoy the action. Playoff details are below.

While th' Pirates failed to plunder th' loot, they sailed to th' final round an' fought well. Key injuries to Pirates Dan R and Justin R--who courageously stuck with their shipmates--depressed th' sea dogs' bulwarks. A key misplay by th' cap'n hisself also he'ped sunk th' ship.

Despite failin' t' grab th' loot, th' Pirates had a great day an' anxiously await th' next battle.
