Despite
tourney organizers chartin' the stormiest o' seas fer the Pirates
includin' early starts 'n heavily favored opponents, our beloved Bucs
sailed the treacherous course wit' a stiff tail wind. The Pirates needed
t' navigate early challenges from the Frozen Ropes 'n last year's
Sweeney Champs, WMD.
Through perilous seas, the Pirates managed a
well swabbed 5 - 0 log; 73 runs scored, 29 runs surrendered fer a
blastin' 44 run differential. In fact, the Pirates stiflin' D ne'er
allowed double digit runs against; an impressive feat fer coed slow
pitch. The Pirates worst defensive half was thar first when they gave up
6 runs t' Frozen Ropes on mostly perfectly placed hits, bleeders 'n
bloops; a combination that proved unsustainable. The Pirates' D sailed
easy fer the remainder o' the Tourney ne'er surrenderin' more than 3
runs in any defensive half.
Given tournament rules 'n the uneven
draws, the Pirates ended up as the overall 2 seed fer the Semi 'n the
Final rounds. Undaunted, the Pirates plundered 'n looted Uncle Bill's
Tavern fer all UBT's ale 'n the championship.
Aft the tourney, the Pirates 'n UBT joined forces fer grog 'n grub 'n recountin' o' tall tales o' past battles.
